The Inn has been sympathetically renovated to keep as near as possible to the original state. The low ceilings, featuring wonderful beams, are held up by some original oak pillars. Adjoining the bar is the old milking parlor which is now the restaurant; the coaching barn is now The Pilgrims Rest. Initially the sign of The Bull represented the Papal Bull and bore the heads of St. Peter and St. Paul and the reigning Pope; the modern day interpretation brears that of the animal.
You become part of the history as you add to those who over the past 500 years have stopped at the Bull and The Pilgrims Rest.
The Pilgrims rest is a converted Coaching House which itself dates back to 1510.
The Inn is situated halfway between Canterbury and Winchester on the A272, a resting point for the Pilgrims. To this day the signpost on the village green still shows the distance between the two Cities.
